New Caledonia: Residual fuel supply disruptions likely following Dec. 21 suspension of territorywide blockade of fuel depots by unionized workers /update 1
Residual fuel supply disruptions likely across New Caledonia after Dec. 21 unionized workers cancel blockade of fuel depots.
Event
Residual fuel supply disruptions are likely across New Caledonia after unionized workers suspended their territorywide blockade of fuel depots on Dec. 21. The decision to end the labor action comes after an agreement was reached between union leaders and the government concerning a number of demands, including certain tax exemptions. The blockade, which began on Dec. 19, primarily impacted Ducos and Numbo. Fuel supply to air and sea transport services, as well as emergency vehicles, remain unaffected; however, refueling stations for most ground vehicles will likely face disruptions until delivery services normalize over the coming days.
Advice
Stock up on fuel for vehicles when possible until supply deliveries normalize. Consider alternative shipping arrangements for critical freights.
