Officials at Spain's flag carrier Iberia (IB) have confirmed the airline is experiencing a technical malfunction Jan. 28, crashing check-in and boarding systems, and resulting in flight disruptions. The airline's main hub is in Madrid, but Iberia flights at other airports are also being impacted. Iberia spokespersons have not provided a timeframe for when the issue will be rectified.

Disruptions may extend for several hours after the issue is resolved as the carrier moves to reposition aircraft and clear any passenger backlogs.

Confirm flights if booked to fly with Iberia through at least Jan. 28. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider alternate arrangements for critical travel.
