Gunmen killed 41 people and wounded two others in an attack in Kankara Local Government Area, Katsina State, Feb. 2. According to officials, the incident occurred after villagers from the Bakori Local Government area were ambushed in the Yargoje Forest after attempting to recover stolen livestock from the gunmen who attacked their village and fled. Security forces deployed to the location of the incident, and an operation to apprehend the attackers was launched.
