Morocco: Officials end health state of emergency as of Feb. 28 /update 106

Morocco ends health state of emergency as of Feb. 28. Public Health Passenger form no longer required.

Informational

Event

Authorities have ended the country's health state of emergency (SoE) as of Feb. 28. The SoE, in place since March 2020, granted officials the authority to impose proactive measures, including curfews and travel restrictions.

The nation's National Office of Airports has also announced that it will no longer require travelers to complete the "Public Health Passenger" form. Authorities previously removed the requirement for travelers to provide proof of receiving a negative COVID-19 test result or a vaccination certificate to enter the country.

International Travel Restrictions
Authorities have banned all travelers arriving from China since Jan. 3 due to the country's recent surge in COVID-19 cases. The order, which will remain in force until further notice, prohibits all individuals traveling from China from entering Morocco, regardless of nationality. The ban, however, does not apply to individuals who left China seven calendar days before arriving in the kingdom.

The country has reopened its maritime borders. Spain's land borders with Morocco at Melilla and Ceuta are open.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all business appointments and travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments. Reconfirm required documents before traveling by ferry.
