The Forces Vives de Guinee (FVG) civil society coalition has called for a protest in Conakry March 9, to denounce the ongoing transition period, demand the liberation of imprisoned FNDC members, and the immediate lifting of a ban on demonstrations. The exact time and location for the protest remain unclear, however, participants are likely to gather around the Bambeto, Cosa, Hamdallaye, Matoto and Ratoma areas.
Authorities will likely deploy additional security personnel to prevent protests from taking place. Clashes with security forces are possible; given that protests are currently banned, police are likely to disperse demonstrators. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely near demonstrations.
