Thunderstorms accompanied by heavy downpours and strong winds are forecast across parts of western Germany March 13. The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued red thunderstorm warnings for parts of far northwestern Bavaria, southern Hesse, and far southeastern Rhineland-Palatinate on the afternoon March 13. Orange thunderstorm warnings are in place across the rest of the affected area, as well as orange and yellow strong wind warnings. Winds gusting up to 100 kph (62 mph) and rainfall totals of 2-3.5 cm (0.8-1.4 inches) are possible in the region.
