Cameroon: Explosion in Mozogo, Far North Region, March 16; multiple casualties reported

Event

An armed attack targetting the provincial palace in Djibrili was reported in the town of Mozogo in Mayo-Tsanaga, Far North Region, around 14:00 March 18. The explosion killed two people and injured four others. Boko Haram is suspected of having perpetrated the attack.

Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely in the impacted area in the coming days. Authorities may launch retaliatory operations against militant hideouts in the region. Armed clashes between separatists and security forces cannot be ruled out.
