Suspected bandits stormed Sabon Layi, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area (LGA), Kaduna State, around 09:00 on April 12. Assailants invaded the locality firing indiscriminately and looting shops, and stealing cattle. Even though the exact casualty toll remains unclear, reports indicate that the attack left at least nine residents dead and 25 others kidnapped. Authorities confirmed the incident and announced that an airstrike neutralized several fleeing bandits a few kilometers from Sabon Layi.

Authorities will likely maintain a heightened security presence in the area and may launch targeted operations in the region to apprehend the assailants and rescue the victims. Localized transport disruptions are likely; security forces may establish checkpoints and search vehicles. Clashes involving kidnappers and security forces cannot be ruled out.
