Planned power outages will continue in parts of Phnom Penh and surrounding areas through April 23 due to maintenance work. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced that electricity disruptions will occur on the following days:

  • April 21: Outages will occur in Chamkar Mon District 08:00-13:00. Additional electricity disruptions are scheduled to occur in Dangkao and Sen Sok districts 08:00-16:00.

  • April 22: Electricity disruptions are scheduled to occur in Sen Sok District 08:00-13:00.

  • April 23: Electricity disruptions are slated to occur in Mean Chey District of Phnom Penh, as well as Ta Khmau, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.

Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.

Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
