Crisis24 in Action
A Comprehensive Solution to Keep Employees and Assets Safe
Live events in large venues present unique challenges to security professionals. To ensure the safety of people and assets, significant preparation is critical, reliable intelligence is vital, and experienced on-the-ground personnel is fundamental to success. Crisis24 combined these essential elements to provide our client with a solution that kept people safe and assets functional during this four-day high-profile event.
Working closely with our client’s security and events teams, Crisis24 provided pre-event security consulting support to assess event security requirements. Once the live event began, our protective operations included close protection of the company’s executive leadership, secure transport of 80 personnel, and guard protection of the client’s airshow chalet and static aircraft displays.
Pre-planning: Threat and Security Risk Assessments
Crisis24 gathered pertinent information about the venue and the event alongside our client's security team and conducted a formal threat assessment. It began with a complete review of the physical vulnerabilities of the primary site and at each of the designated client sites, including hotels and offices. From this analysis, the team provided recommendations while being mindful of the client’s requirements.
Areas of concern and potential problems were identified early and culminated in preparing a detailed pre-event security assessment report and the subsequent instruction document that guided the security team members in the proper execution of their duties.
Crisis24 reviewed all available public sources, law enforcement, and private intelligence and security risk management information as it pertained to the client’s participation in the Paris Air Show. Our assessment was based on current crime and safety conditions in the metropolitan Paris area. The following criteria were used to assess conditions and prepare our report.
Threat Assessment Criteria
Security Risk Assessment
To develop a successful event security plan, Crisis24 completed a thorough security risk assessment identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing potential vulnerabilities to the safety of the client’s employees and physical assets at the event. Crisis24 created a customized protective solution playbook, including identified risks from this information. The playbook specified team roles and responsibilities for crowd management, customer care, and security and evacuation procedures.
Operations: Executing Event Security Risk Plan
Armed with the collective intelligence required, the Crisis24 team prepared a tailored event security risk plan with the following components.
- One Event Security Risk Manager: Worked with the client events team to oversee and direct event security operations at all of the venues coordinating all aspects of security with venue security, LEO (National Gendarmerie), executive protection teams (assigned to client leadership) and static security elements assigned to the primary venue and client hotels. Created the client Event Risk Assessment and Event Security Operations Playbook.
- One Transportation Coordinator: Responsible for the secure transportation of all 80 client attendees, from in-country arrival to end-of-mission departure. Also provided reservation-coordination-dispatch of each transit movement by coach bus, Sprinter vans, and executive sedans.
- One Site Security Lead (mobile command) for the primary site (Le Bourget Airport): Acted as the on-site Manager for command and communications and mobile incident response. Directed communications with all security/LEO /medical teams.
- Mobile Response Team (MRT): Provided security support for attendee ‘Arrivals Airport Meet and Greet,’ mobile countersurveillance, perimeter/interior monitoring at the event (Le Bourget static display and chalet) areas, and other venues when necessary.
- Executive Protection Team (EPT): Four Executive Protection Agents and four Security Drivers provided low-profile executive protection coverage of executives during the week’s activities.
- One Static Event Team (SET): Four Event Guards provided coverage of the static display aircraft area and client chalet
- One Residence Security Team (RST): Two Security Agents provided security overnight at two client hotels.
- K9 Team: One agent and one K9 provided daily event support to conduct ‘spot’ K9 explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) sweeps of the primary venue, hotel conference areas, and other venues as needed.
