Niger: Opposition protest march in Niamey November 11

Opposition to hold anti-government protest march in Niamey on November 11; avoid all gatherings

Several opposition coalitions are calling for a mass protest to be held in the capital Niamey on Sunday, November 11. Protesters will gather from 08:00 (local time) at Place Toumo and march towards Place de la Concertation, situated in front of the National Assembly building, where a rally will be held. Protesters intend to call out the government over its poor governance. Heightened security measures and associated traffic disruptions are expected along the march route. Security forces may forcibly disperse the protests should there be an escalation in tensions.

Individuals in Niamey are advised to avoid all protests due to the risk of violence and adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities.
