Officials confirmed late March 21 at least 23 soldiers died during an ambush between Teguey and Bankilare, Tillaberi Region. The attack occurred during a security operation in the area between March 19-20. Militants reportedly used improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and suicide bombs during the ambush.
Authorities could impose enhanced security measures, including movement restrictions, vehicle checks, curfews, and/or bans on public gatherings. Further armed attacks and clashes are possible.
