are holding yet another 24-hour strike on Thursday, June 8, to demand salary increases amid high inflation rates. The union
behind the strike, the CICOP, represents more than 10,000 doctors and other
medical professionals at 80 public healthcare facilities in the province and as
such the impact will likely be relatively significant. Hospitals, including in
the city of Buenos Aires, could potentially only provide emergency services
during this period. Related street protests are possible.
Context
There have been at least six
other doctor strikes held in the province since the beginning of the year and
more are to be anticipated in the coming weeks and months until a settlement is reached.
