China: Second landslide in Sichuan province June 27 /update 1
A second landslide strikes Xinmo in Sichuan province on June 27 hampering ongoing rescue operations for deadly June 24 landslide

A second landslide struck the village of Xinmo, Sichuan province, at around 11:00 (local time) on Tuesday, June 27, as rescue operations were still ongoing to find people still missing following the June 24 landslide that occurred in the village. No casualties have been reported so far in the second incident.
Context
On June 24, a first deadly landslide in Xinmo left dozens of homes destroyed and many feared dead. As of Monday, June 26, only three people had been rescued and ten bodies recovered. Some 93 people are feared to be buried.
Deadly landslides occur frequently in China. In October 2016, a deadly landslide hit China's Zhejiang province, killing 27 people. Rain brought by Typhoon Megi caused about 400,000 cubic meters (141,258,667 cubic feet) of debris to tumble down the mountains of the village of Sucun (Suichang county) on September 28, burying 20 houses.
