Costa Rica: Ongoing power outage in San José June 29
Mass power outage continues in San José on Thursday, June 29; possible traffic disruptions

Local authorities are currently working to resolve a mass power outage in large parts of the capital city of San José as of early Thursday, June 29. The power cut was caused by a major fire at an electric substation, located south of the capital, that occurred on Wednesday, June 28. Some 100,000 people have been affected. Associated transportation disruptions are likely, such as increased traffic congestion due to nonfunctioning traffic signals.
Power has so far been reestablished in at least the following areas: González Víquez, La Cruz, San Cayetano, San Francisco de Dos Ríos, Zapote, and San Antonio de Desamparados.
