Hong Kong: Bomb scare in Kowloon Tong area June 15

A fake bomb was planted in Hong Kong’s upscale Kowloon Tong area on Thursday, June 15, prompting police to close sections of Cornwall Street. This is the second bomb scare in two weeks in Hong Kong. As of 12:30 (local time), police were still on the scene, located on Cornwall Street near the intersection with Kent Road.

Context

This bomb scare is the latest in a series of incidents in Hong Kong related to bombings and bomb hoaxes. In late May, a woman was arrested for planting a bomb-like object on the waterfront outside the Harbour City Mall in Tsim Sha Tsui, resulting in the evacuation of the building. On February 10, 17 people were injured in a fire that broke out on a train at Tsim Sha Tsui station after a man hurled a petrol bomb.
