France: Wildfire near Nice continues to burn July 18

A major wildfire in Castagniers, a town located 15 km (10 miles) from Nice, continues to burn as of Tuesday, July 18. Over 450 firefighters have been deployed to fight the fire, which started on July 17 at approximately 14:30 (local time). Fueled by strong winds, the fire - the worst of its kind in the area since 2003 - has burned some 100 hectares. Local authorities have assured that although the fire still ongoing, it is in the process of being contained.
