Thailand: Tropical depression to affect northern, central regions July 25-28
Tropical Storm Sonca to affect Thailand with heavy rain from Tuesday, July 25, through Friday, July 28; flooding possible in northern and central provinces

Tropical Storm Sonca, due to make landfall in Vietnam on Tuesday, July 25, is forecast to weaken to a tropical depression over Thailand and bring torrential rain from July 25 through Friday, July 28. The following provinces will be affected: the northern provinces of Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun; the northeastern provinces of Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, Yasothon, Surin, Si Sa Ket, and Ubon Ratchathani; and the central provinces of Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat.
Flash floods are possible during this period. The Thai Meteorological Department has warned all ships to remain cautious and advised against using small boats through at least Saturday, July 29.

The monsoon (rainy) season spans from April to October, during which time flooding is relatively common.
