Croatia: Croatia Airlines strike called off /update 1

Event

ORCA, the trade union representing Croatia Airlines employees - including stewardess, pilots and mechanics - has called off an indefinite strike initially scheduled to start on August 8, following successful mediation with the government.

Context

ORCA was demanding that new regulations be enforced regarding working hours and for salaries to be increased by 10 percent. The Ministry for Transport, Sea, and Infrastructure announced it would directly participate in future negotiations between unions and Croatia Airlines, as the latter handles some 30 percent of flights to the country.
