France: Storms between Pyrénées Centrales and Auvergne

Strong storms forecast in southern and central France August 7; orange alert warnings issued for 13 departments

Violent storms are expected to hit the departments of llier, Aveyron, Cantal, Corrèze, Dordogne, Gers, Loire, Haute-Loire, Lot, Lot-et-Garonne, Puy-de-Dôme, Hautes-Pyrénées, and Tarn-et-Garonne at approximately 21:00 (local time) on Monday, August 7. The national weather agency (Météo France) has issued orange alert warnings - the second-highest on a four point scale - for these 13 departments, which will be in effect until Tuesday, August 8, at 08:00.

Strong winds (up to 80 kph [50 mph]), heavy hail, and rain as well as lightning are expected, which may cause some transport disruptions, along with localized power cuts and flooding.
