Clashes resume in the Asbiah area south of Tripoli August 29 between Al-Kani Brigade and Tripoli Revolutionary Brigade

As of Tuesday, August 29, fighting has resumed in the Asbiah area, south of Tripoli. Reports indicate that the Al-Kani Brigade is now being supported by Salah Badi - a former member of Libya's parliament, currently a militia commander - and is fighting against the now-involved Tripoli Revolutionary Brigade (TRB). TRB may also be joined by other Tripoli militias who are opposed to Al-Kani. Seven people have been killed so far.
The situation is likely to escalate.
Context
Following the 2011 uprising that toppled Muammar Gaddafi, Libya has been divided into rival governments and factions with their own militias and political parties. The security situation in Libya remains precarious and there is little to no sign of a return of relative stability in the near-term.
