Spain: Series of metro strikes in Madrid Sep. 28 through January

Unions plan to hold numerous metro strikes in Madrid on September 28, December 18-22, and January 8-12; rail disruptions to be expected

Unions representing metro workers in Madrid have announced a new series of strikes in order to protest poor working conditions as well as a lack of consideration for workers’ health. As a result, metro drivers are expected to strike on the following days:

  • Thursday, September 28, from 05:30 to 09:30 (local time) and from 17:00 and 21:00
  • December 18- 22, from 17:00 and 21:00
  • January 8-12, from 05:30 and 09:30

As a result, metro services are expected to experience some disruptions, including delays and cancelations throughout the industrial action.

Individuals in Madrid are advised to confirm their train stations on the dates mentioned above and to allow for extra time to reach their destination.
