Spain: Planned runway closure to prompt flight disruptions at Madrid-Barajas Airport Oct. 2-Nov. 12
Flight disruptions likely at Madrid-Barajas Airport in Spain Oct. 2-Nov. 12 due to planned runway maintenance.
Authorities will close one of the four main runways at Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) from Oct. 2 to Nov. 12 for scheduled runway maintenance. The runway maintenance will result in the airport's capacity being slightly reduced during this time. Airlines have been informed of the closures ahead of time and have prepared accordingly.
Lingering delays are possible after normal operations resume as airlines attempt to clear any backlog of flights.
Confirm flight reservations if scheduled to travel via MAD Oct. 2-Nov. 12. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
