Honduras: Tropical storm warning issued October 4

Event

According to the US-based National Hurricane Center, tropical storm warnings have been issued for the coast from Punta Castilla, Honduras to Sandy Bay Sirpi, Nicaragua. As of 14:00 (local time) on Wednesday, October 4, a tropical depression located about 315 km (195 mi) south-southeast of Cabo Gracias a Dios on the Nicaragua/Honduras border and is moving northwest at 11 km/h (7 mph). The storm is expected to pass over or near eastern Nicaragua and Honduras as a tropical storm on Thursday, October 5. Up to 13 cm (5 in) of rain is expected with the potential to cause flooding and landslides.

The Atlantic Hurricane Season officially runs from June 1 to November 30, with a peak of storms typically observed in late August and September.
