Commuter train runs into barrier near Madrid on December 22, injuring 45 people; some delays reported

A Renfe commuter train crashed into a barrier at the Alacala de Henares station around 40 km (24 mi) east of Madrid. According to Renfe, the incident occurred at approximately 15:37 (local time). Officials said that 45 people were injured in the accident, including four with serious injuries. The cause of the crash is still being investigated. Service has not been suspended but some trains have been delayed in the region.
