Dominican Republic: Nationwide demonstrations by teachers' union January 31

Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) to hold nationwide demonstrations on January 31; associated gatherings planned for February 9, 21

A series of nationwide demonstrations will be held by the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) on Wednesday, January 31. The demonstrations will be held in public squares in all 32 provinces of the country. An increased security presence, along with associated transportation disruptions, should be expected in the vicinity of the demonstrations.

In the capital city of Santo Domingo, protesting teachers will gather in several parks throughout the city:

Villa Faro Park, Los Molinos Park, and Central War Park, and Cristo Obrero School at 08:30
Mella de Boca Chica park at 13:30
Independence Park at 14:00
Santaella School at 14:30
Los Jardines, Cristo Libre, and Pedro Livio Cedeño parks at 15:00.

Associated demonstrations are being planned by the ADP on Friday, February 9, and Wednesday, February 21, at Independence Park in Santo Domingo.

Context

The ADP is holding the demonstrations to demand increases in salaries and improved working conditions for teachers.
