Uganda: Power restored throughout the country Jan. 9 /update 1

The national power company Umeme Limited announced late on Tuesday, January 9, that power had been fully restored following a major blackout that hit Tuesday evening due to a technical failure in neighboring Kenya. The company disconnected from the Kenyan grid and restarted the system independently, which allowed them to quickly restore power to all affected areas.

A large blackout also occurred in Kenya January 9-10, leaving millions without electricity.
