Warning

Event

Winter weather is set to hit France, Belgium, and the Netherlands on Friday, February 9. In France, orange weather alerts issued by the national meteorological agency Météo France are in place in much of the north and center of the country.

Associated transportation disruptions are to be anticipated throughout the day and potentially into the weekend. The French civil aviation authorities (DGAC) have ordered airlines to reduce flight schedules by 33 percent at Paris-Orly International Airport (ORY); disruptions are also likely at Paris-Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG), Brussels-Zaventem (BRU), and Amsterdam-Schiphol (AMS) airports.

Rail disruptions are expected, including affecting Eurostar trains to and from France and Thalys trains serving France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Hazardous driving conditions and reduced public transit services are also likely.

Advice

Individuals in these areas are advised to confirm travel reservations, adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities, and to exercise caution on roads.
