Heavy snow causes travel disruptions in Madrid February 5 -6

Heavy snowfall in Madrid on Monday, February 5, caused travel disruption across the capital, with residual disruptions expected to last into Tuesday. Two runways were closed at Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) on Monday, resulting in flight cancelations and delays. Snow also resulted in significant disruption to road travel. Authorities have issued an "orange level" warning for Madrid and have recommended that residents use public transport rather than driving.

Spanish meteorological office AEMET has forecast cold weather and further snowfall in other areas across the country through Thursday. Snow storm warnings have been issued in the regions of Aragón, Cantabria, Castilla y León, CataluñaNavarra, Comunitat Valenciana, Galicia, País Vasco, and Principado de Asturias
