Turkey: US Embassy in Ankara closed through March 6 /update 1

Only emergency services will be provided during this time. The embassy has also advised US nationals to avoid large crowds and remain vigilant in popular tourist sites. An increased security presence is to be expected surrounding the US Embassy and throughout Ankara more generally in the coming days.

On Monday, Turkish authorities announced the arrest of 12 suspected Islamic State (IS) members, with eight additional suspects being pursued.
