LAN Express cabin crew union announces end of strike April 26; unclear when strike will officially end

Warning

Event

On Thursday, April 26, the union of cabin crew staff at Chile-based LAN Express announced that it would unilaterally end its strike, launched April 10. The precise timetable for a return to normal flight operations is currently unclear, as parent company LATAM claimed that the strike could not officially conclude until the decision is ratified by a labor contracts regulator. Lingering flight disruptions (including delays and cancelations) are expected on LAN Express flights in the coming days.

Context

LAN Express, a subsidiary of LATAM, operates domestic Chilean and regional flights.

The airline had previously canceled a number of short- and medium-haul flights through May 2. The strike has resulted in some 2000 cancelations.

Advice

Travelers are advised to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport.
