Celebrations began in the city on Wednesday, April 11, and will last for nine days and eight nights, until April 19. Some 1000 security personnel have been mobilized for the festival, which marks the beginning of Nepali New Year. Lights and CCTV cameras have been installed at major thoroughfares of the city.
