South African Airways (SAA) cancels flights between Johannesburg and Mauritius April 24-25 due to tropical storm

South African Airways (SAA) has canceled flights between Johannesburg's O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) and Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) in Mauritius on Tuesday, April 24, and Wednesday, April 25, due to hazardous conditions associated with the passage of Tropical Storm Fakir. A list of affected flights is available from SAA here. SAA has advised affected customers to rebook their flights at no extra charge.

While no cyclone warning is currently in effect in Mauritius according to the Mauritius Meteorological Services, the storm is forecast to bring winds of 35 km/h (21.7 mph) gusting to 65 km/h (40 mph), intermittent periods of moderate rainfall, and rough seas. Fakir is forecast to pass around 120 km (75 mi) southwest of Mauritius on Tuesday afternoon (local time).
