Belgium: Unions suspends series of rail strikes in June and July /update 3

The SACT, SIC, and Metisp-Protect unions representing workers at the SNCB (Belgium's national train operator) have suspended a series of strikes set to take place in June and July. The strikes were initially schedule for June 22, 25, 26, and 29, and July 2, 4, 6, 9, and 11. According to a union spokesperson, the strikes were suspended following a meeting between union officials and government representatives. Further strikes are possible in the coming weeks should negotiations break down. Nevertheless, a 48-hour strike by workers represented by the CGSP-Cheminots union has been maintained from June 28 to June 30.
