Thunderstorms forecast for much of the country through June 9-10; flooding, transportation disruptions possible

The French weather service (Météo France) has warned that thunderstorms, common in recent days and weeks throughout the country, are forecast to continue through at least the weekend of June 9-10. There is also a risk of flooding, notably in Brittany and the southeast. As of the morning (local time) of Tuesday, June 5, orange storm alerts - the second-highest on a four-point scale - are in effect for 15 departments in the center-south of the country.

Related air and rail disruptions, hazardous driving conditions, and power outages are possible.
