Hong Kong: Warnings for Tropical Storm Ewiniar June 7 /update 2

Hong Kong meteorological authorities issued a "typhoon signal" regarding Tropical Storm Ewiniar at midday on Thursday, June 7 (local time). The signal warns of strong winds of up to 62 km/h (38 mph), thunderstorms, heavy rain, and possible landslides; localized flooding has already been reported across Hong Kong and further flooding is likely, particularly in low-lying areas. Authorities have forbidden access to beaches due to rough surf and have warned drivers to be vigilant on motorways and flyovers due to strong winds. Significant transportation disruptions due to the adverse weather conditions are to be expected throughout the day.

All kindergartens and schools for handicapped children have been closed June 7 as a precaution.
