India: Deadly monsoon rains in Kerala state June 13-14

Heavy monsoon rains stuck Kozhikode district (Kerala state) on the evening (local time) of Wednesday, June 13, and the morning of Thursday, June 14. Flooding and landslides left at least four people dead and at least 13 others missing in Chamal, Kakkayam, Karinchola, Kattipparan, and Pulluramppara. Additionally, traffic on roads and highways in the area has been impacted by fallen trees, notably along the Thamarasseru Ghat Road.

Further rainfall and consequent flooding, landslides, and transportation disruptions are possible in affected areas in the coming days and weeks as the monsoon season continues.
