The 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games will take place in Colombia from July 19 through August 3. Over 4000 police officers, as well as drones and helicopters, will be deployed near sporting venues in the host cities of Barranquilla, Cali, and Bogotá to provide security for the games. The athletes' village in Barranquilla will be under 24-hour protection. Officials announced that Interpol will participate in security monitoring in support of Colombian police operations. The abovementioned areas are expected to see increased travel for the duration of the games with the potential for airport delays and lower hotel availability.
