On Thursday, August 16, militants attacked a border police vehicle in the village of Abulhassan, located near Baneh (Kordestan province). According to local sources, at least four border police officers were wounded in the attack. No group has claimed responsibility as of Friday, August 17. Further attacks by militant groups are possible in Kordestan province in the near-term.
