Bulgaria: Further protests possible nationwide in coming days

Numerous protests erupted throughout Bulgaria - including in the capital Sofia and in Burgas - on Sunday, November 11, over various socioeconomic grievances, notably the rising price of fuel. Protestors blocked roads and major highways, impeding traffic to and from Greece and Turkey as well as in the north of the country. Clashes occurred between demonstrators and police in Burgas.

Further protests are possible in the coming days and weeks, along with associated transportation disruptions and potential violence.
