Chile: Public sector strike November 26; protest in Santiago

A warning strike by public sector employees is taking place nationwide on Monday, November 26, to demand pay raises. Some public sector disruptions are possible; more disruptive strikes are possible in the coming days and weeks if the unions’ demands are not met.

An associated protest will be held on Monday in the capital Santiago, where demonstrators will gather on Paseo Bulnes. However, municipal authorities have not authorized the demonstration. Clashes between security forces and protesters are possible, notably if the latter attempt to disrupt traffic.
