Congo: Fuel, power, and water shortages continue in Brazzaville /update 2

A fuel shortage ongoing for more than two weeks continues in the capital Brazzaville as of Monday, November 12. The shortage is reportedly due to logistical issues affecting the transportation of petroleum products between the cities of Pointe-Noire and Brazzaville. The situation has resulted in long queues at Brazzaville gas stations as well as significant transportation disruptions.

The shortages come amid intermittent power outages in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire - ongoing since October 21 and scheduled to continue until December 5 - due to scheduled maintenance on the country's main power plant.

These various issues have resulted in significant disruptions to business activity and daily life. Associated protests cannot be ruled out.
