Armed group attacks Sharara oil field November 20, stealing vehicles; no casualties or disruptions to oil production reported

An armed group attacked the Sharara oil field on Tuesday, November 20, stealing three vehicles. No casualties were reported in the attack and oil production has not been affected; the employees at the site were evacuated following the attack. Similar attacks targeting oil facilities are possible in the Fezzan region over the near term.

Context

The Sharara oil field was also attacked by armed men on October 18. Similar to the November 20 attack, the assailants stole two vehicles.
