Madrid metro strike initially planned for November 23 canceled; operations to run as normal

A strike by metro workers initially called for by the SCMM union in Madrid to take place Friday, November 23, has been canceled. Metro services will operate as usual.

However, further strikes are possible through December 25.

Context

Madrid metro workers held a 24-hour strike during Pride Week in July to demand the implementation of appropriate measures for asbestos removal in the metro system, as well as to denounce alleged mismanagement leading to longer night shift hours without appropriate compensation.
