Police and custom officers strike December 13-14; call for a national day of action on December 14; transportation disruptions expected

Warning

Event

Police and custom officers plan to hold two nationwide consecutive strikes on Thursday, December 13, and Friday, December 14. The FGTB and CSC main trade unions have also called for nationwide protest movements to take place on December 14 to denounce the government economic policies. Besides strikes, employees from various business sectors are likely to block roads, as well as entrance to companies. Major disruptions to daily life activities can be expected on both days, notably at airports (increased waiting times at security checkpoints).

Advice

Individuals present in Belgium are advised to monitor development to the situation, confirm travel reservations, allow for extra time to reach their destination, and avoid all protests as a precaution.
