Bulgaria Air temporarily suspends Sofia-Odessa flights from November 30 through December 16 due to military tensions in Ukraine

On Friday, November 30, Bulgaria Air announced that it would temporarily suspend flights from Sofia to Odessa (Ukraine) until at least Sunday, December 16. According to the airline, the decision was made due to the increased military tensions in Ukraine, on the recommendation of Bulgaria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Flights may resume after December 16, pending a normalization of the situation. Further service disruptions and suspensions are possible in the near-term.
Context
Tensions have significantly increased between Ukraine and Russia after Russian forces opened fire on Ukrainian naval vessels and arrested several Ukrainian sailors who were attempting to pass through the Kerch Strait on November 25. In response, the Ukrainian government implemented martial law in several central and eastern regions on November 28, which is expected to remain in effect until December 27.
