Factory explosion kills three, injures 44 in Santo Domingo on December 5; localized disruptions ongoing

An explosion at a plastics factory in northern Santo Domingo killed at least three people and injured another 44 on Wednesday, December 5. The suspected gas explosion partially destroyed the factory and caused infrastructure damage to several buildings on the street, including a school. Authorities have closed streets in the Villa Agricolas neighborhood and search and rescue efforts are ongoing as of 17:30 (local time).
