Three dead and twenty others injured in Islamic State attack against Libyan Foreign Ministry on December 25; associated disruptions expected

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack targeting the Libyan Foreign Affairs Ministry, located in the Zawt Al-Dahmani area of Tripoli, on Tuesday, December 25. The attack reportedly resulted in three people dead, including a Libyan diplomat, and more than twenty others wounded. Residual transportation disruptions can be expected in the vicinity of the attack, along with a heightened security presence around government buildings. Further related attacks cannot be ruled out.
Context
IS militants have continued to carry out attacks on security forces and infrastructure in Libya since being driven out of their former stronghold of Sirte in late 2016.
