Restrictions on older gasoline and diesel vehicles take effect in downtown Madrid on November 30

Driving restrictions on older gasoline and diesel vehicles came into effect in downtown Madrid on Friday, November 30, in a bid to reduce air pollution levels. Diesel vehicles produced before 2006 and gasoline vehicles produced before 2000 will be banned from circulating in the Madrid Central zone. Violations of the driving ban could result in a fine of 90 euros (USD 100). Some exceptions will be tolerated for residents in the affected area.
