Spain: Rail workers to strike late December and early January 2019 /update 1

Unions representing Renfe and Adif rail workers plan to strike on December 14, 21 and January 7, 2019; rail disruptions expected

Unions representing rail workers for the state train operator Renfe and state infrastructure company Adif are planning to hold nationwide strikes in late December and early January 2019. Strikes will be held on Friday, December 14, Friday, December 21, and Monday, January 7. According to union officials, the work stoppages are being held to protest ongoing reductions to Renfe staff. Disruptions (e.g. delays and cancelations) are expected throughout the network should the strikes proceed as planned.
